Many have asked how they can help save Jericho.
small quote from schumi's post:
But here’s the bottom line – Jericho is not going ANYWHERE unless CBS/Paramount (the studio that owns Jericho – this is different than CBS the network that used to air Jericho) lets it go. This is a business argument. We need to convince CBS/Paramount that they will be losing out on a proven revenue stream if they do not let Jericho live on.
We must convince CBS/Paramount to:
Find Jericho a new home on another network (with an online component) and/or possibly pursue a theatrical release as a motion picture.

This is where our letters can help. Of course - we need to thank them and express our love for the show. But we can also remind CBS/Paramount of the various avenues for revenue and that while Nielsen didn't give a hoot about us - we were still there contributing to their coffers.
Examples:

If you viewed live - in theory you contribute revenue to the studio from broadcast advertising; but with nielsen so antiquated - hard to really gauge how many of us there are since most of us don't have boxes (possible new homes this type of revenue supports - another network, cable or not)

If you viewed online - the studio makes money from online advertising (which we've already heard can be more lucrative than broadcast advertising); this includes outright sponsorship like Sprint this season of Jericho (new homes - supplementing another networks broadcast airing, or standalone online series)

If you purchased a digital download (iTunes, amazon, etc...) - the studio makes money from a percentage of the download price, probably around 60-65% of the actual cost the consumer pays (new homes - supplementing a theatrical release, network broadcast, or standalone online series)

If you bought the DVD - the studio obviously made money from sale of DVD (new homes - supplementing a theatrical release, network broadcast, or standalone online series)
So how many of these things did we all do? How much revenue did we give CBS/Paramount without ever being counted by Nielsen. There's money there to be had. We just need to let the studio know where and that it will still be there. (Plus with theatrical release there is the box office sales as the most obvious revenue source)
This doesn't just fall to the studio obviously when we are talking about going to another network. Someone has to want to buy. And producing an episode of Jericho is moderately expensive - maybe too much so for smaller networks. These alternate revenue streams can make the show more affordable by covering a lot of the cost.
As I said in an earlier post - there are a lot of options STARZ, A&E, USA, TNT, etc... but we need to focus our efforts to CBS/Paramount so they can be encouraged to put together a buyer and sponsorship package as well as use our letters to show prospective networks how much interest is there.
I would encourage everyone to read schumi's 2 posts in their entirety.
