The average child recognizes over 200 company logos by the time he/she enters first grade.

No clue. Thought the missing G was odd myself, but it was the best image for the UFotD so I just rolled with it (yes - I'm tired - pun was intended)

This made me think of when I asked my Daddy "why is that big ice cream cone on top of that building?" His answer was "so little girls will ask their daddy's why it is there." That was very early targeted marketing to children!

Heck, that picture there looks just like the right quarter panel of Greg Biffle's car.

Hey, lol...I've only got 9 years on ya. I think the switch from Esso to Exxon happened in the very late 70's or very early 80's...possibly a little sooner.

I just remember Esso because at that time it was one of only 2 gas stations in the town I grew up in. My grandfather was the town doctor and had an account there, so whenever he went in to get gas I'd get a Mountain Dew ( the old bottles with the hillbilly character on them) and a pack of "nabs". I'd guess that you'd have to be over a certain age and raised in the south to know what those are.

I believe it was Nabisco cookies, but the term actually covers all those 6 in a pack cookies/crackers, etc. "Nabs" is most readily associated with the square orange peanut butter crackers

Ahh ok. I grew up in WI and don't remember any Exxon stations there, the first I heard of them was when their tanker puked all over Valdez AK. It wasn't until I moved to CA almost 10 years ago that I finally started seeing Exxon gas stations.
